A Modern Lens on Laws and Activism

As of September of 2023, 22 states have at least one law banning gender-affirming care against youth, and some have laws for adults as well. To understand the history of sexuality, we argue that one must have the right to both understand and make choices about their bodies as they personally choose. The fight for gender-affirming care is nowhere near over, and by looking at this fight is imperative for both the safety of youth, and the overall education and understanding of human sexuality. We will specifically be looking into the states that we, the authors of this pressbook, feel most connected to. By no means is this a full study of bans against gender-affirming care, but merely a start.
