Introduction

This book is the work of seven students from GWS-183, Transnational Feminist Theories, taught by the incredible Profe. Esther Hernández-Medina. Each chapter written by a student has been separated by overarching themes and topics: Part I – The Belly of the Iceberg: Invisibilized Care Work, Part II – Buried Treasure of Indigenous Feminist Knowledge, and Part III – The Subaltern Rising.  Part I pertains to domestic labor and women’s role in the economy. Meanwhile, part II focuses on indigenous female academia and indigenous women’s fight against climate change in Ecuador, respectively. Lastly, part III includes chapters about the historically subordinate women across the world. Chapters in order develop ideas of the Perónista Feminist Party in Argentina, the intersection of colonialism in gender and knowledge, and Bosnian feminist resistance. This book is the physical manifestation of the passion and knowledge of transnational feminist theory. This could not have been done without the aid of Profe. Esther, Soo Bin our wonderful writing partner, Jennifer Beamer, and the other great people within our classroom. Not to mention the resources provided during the making of this book to allow the creation.
