Writing Skills in Pills

The myth that writing cannot be taught, and has to be learned by oneself through struggle is what I called it – a myth. While I may concede that the act of writing cannot be delegated, almost everything about writing can be taught: formal vs. informal writing styles; how to structure a paragraph; how to build a clear sentence. If writing cannot be taught, then we need to ask why writing workshops like the Iowa one that bred so many successful writers are so famous and in demand, and why some academics deciding to build a career out of it. There are many books and exercises that improve our skills. Here I give some general advice and list some resources that can help you.
