Pressbooks is brought to you by The Claremont Colleges Library Publishing Services. Pressbooks is simple book production software used by educational institutions around the world. You can use Pressbooks to publish textbooks, scholarly monographs, syllabi, fiction and non-fiction books, white papers, and more in multiple formats including EPUB and PDF.
Service Guidelines
- Use of The Claremont Colleges Library’s Pressbooks is subject to the University’s rules on Appropriate Use of Campus Computing and Network Resources and the Pressbooks Terms of Service. All content placed on the service must comply with University of Minnesota policies and local, state, and federal laws and may be subject to removal if it is found in violation. Content is the sole responsibility of its author(s).
- The Claremont Colleges students, faculty, and staff usually own the copyrights to their authored works, and can share them through Pressbooks (see more detail at Copyright at The Claremont Colleges ). The individual Colleges may own the copyrights to work created by some Claremont Colleges staff. For questions about ownership, or about using existing works, contact copyright@claremont.edu. Pressbooks also provides a mechanism through which a book author may license the content of their blog through a Creative Commons license. More information on Creative Commons licenses is available through the Pressbooks Guidelines for The Claremont Colleges or through the Creative Commons website.
- Make an effort to maximize the accessibility of any content you create on Pressbooks. The OER Accessibility Toolkit at the University of British Columbia provides several excellent suggestions on how to achieve accessibility.
