Notes from Katia:
Though Chris and I had different visions for our final projects, we decided to present them together in the form of a dialogue. It made perfect sense with my pedagogy being built around the spirit of dialogue and Chris’s interests similarly centering around the importance of relationships to learning & transformation (on many levels), which I would identify as an aspect of the spirit of dialogue. It was difficult and daunting at first to surrender to the idea that we would embark on an unstructured dialogue, without a detailed outline, which I felt a strong inclination to make… But this lack of control soon became thrilling as we ventured towards topics I hadn’t anticipated covering and we were able to speak genuinely and thoughtfully in the moment, building off of natural curiosities that arose as we talked. We covered topics ranging from the inspirations behind our pedagogies to Nature as embodying the dialogical spirit to a surprise sharing of a journal entry from 7th grade swim team! I’m very happy with and proud of the final product. We offer our unedited dialogue, which ended up lasting over an hour, so have broken it into major topics of discussion with timestamps (below), so that you may choose to only listen to certain sections, if you’d like:
